Project Summary

Construction of the new SECU Arena at Towson University came in response to the university’s sudden spike in popularity and projected 25% increase in new student enrollment by 2025. The new arena is a total of 172,000-square-feet with 117,000-square feet of new construction and 55,000-square-feet of renovated space. The $68-million SECU Arena includes 5,200 spectator seats, premium & standard club seats, private suites, and courtside seating. It also contains a practice facility, program spaces, upgraded technology system and spacious innovative lobby. The arena is LEED Gold Certified for energy, lighting, water, and material use with a variety of other sustainable features making it the third building on campus to receive this certification. Opening to the public in fall of 2013, this project was named the second “greenest” college basketball arena by LawnStarter in 2016.
